Today Rev Nick came to deliver a Worship for Ash Wednesday to our KS2 children.
He spoke about what Lent means to Christians and how over the 40 day period we may give something up, do more of something or start something new. We all shared what we were going to do for Lent, give up computer games, eat more vegetables etc. Rev Nick shared he is determined to do more cycling during this period and that the parish members of St Barnabas are going to make a conscious effort to study the Bible more.
He also brought 3 coloured silks with him, white, red and purple. We discussed our thoughts about which one we thought would be for Lent (purple) and which one would be for Easter (white).
Then Rev Nick showed us some ash and demonstrated on his head how he will be making the sign of the cross on the congregations heads at the service taking place at church this evening.
