World Book Day 2025
Along with welcoming award winning author, Gareth P Jones to our school, we are inviting the children to wear clothes inspired by a book or character that they love.
As explained in our assembly, many of Gareth's book are inspired by fairy tales and mysteries so we would love the children to wear something or have an item or two with them that provide clues as to who they are or what their favourite book is. We hope that this will allow the children's classmates to play 'Guess the book' or 'Guess the character'. For this reason, there is no expectation for children to wear a full costume (particularly as this will make the guessing game far too easy!) and we would actively encourage families to utilise items and get creative with clothing and items that they already own.
• Red hoody & basket (Red Riding Hood)
If you are in need of further inspiration and would like suggestions as to which book characters might wear 'everyday' clothes, you can find further ideas below and choose elements of the character/costume that suit.
Book characters that wear normal clothes
